BC Parks Campsite Reservations
In December 2019, BC Parks upgraded their reservation system using the New York based company Recreation Dynamics. At the time, the province said Recreation Dynamics had more than 20 years of experience providing reservation platforms for government park agencies, including California State Parks, Missouri State Parks and the New Zealand Department of Conservation.
BC Parks Campsite Cancellations
With the popularity of BC Parks campsite reservations, many people are unsuccessful when trying to book a site when it becomes available. Fortunately, plans change and people cancel!
Campsites cancelled more than 7 days before the arrival date are only subject to a $6 change fee and the loss of the non-refundable $18 reservation fee. For up to date details on the key camping policies, please refer to the BC Parks website.
When cancellations are made, the cancelled campsite will become available on Discover Camping from some time between a couple minutes, and a day later, depending a on a few factors.
Pro Tip - Sites become available throughout the day as cancelled sites are not released at a certain time. If you are looking to snag a cancellation, keep checking throughout the day as site may become available!
Not having any luck getting a cancellation? A couple websites have popped up to help you get one (we have not tried them):
Camp Nab (pay to play)
Camp Nab gained some popularity in 2018 when it got some news coverage. We have not tried this service yet.
Camp Alert (pay to play)
An an assistant instructor at BCIT created a free website that will inform you when a site becomes available. After realizing the high demand for their services, they now change a fee for the service.
